Changes by David Bowie is the first thing that came to mind as I think of all of you trying to head into a new school year in a pandemic. Change is the only thing we can expect in times like we have now.
I have been away from my blog for a bit. I've had my grand-daughter while her wonderful preschool was closed. I was one tired Nana as we helped her try to adjust to the change. I know that changes are hard on all of us. My hubby is working from home and the dogs don't understand that they are not needed in a Zoom meeting. My job was to keep all at a level of minimum distraction. Yes, you can roll on the floor laughing. 😅
Recently I did an Ancestry DNA test and received my results. It has been fun discovering my roots in a new way. I realize while working on my family tree over the weekend, that one of my deep roots is supporting all of you as teachers. So here I am hearing David Bowie singing, "Changes" in my head and wanting to be some help and support to all of you.
I don't know who is still out there and reading this, but I know this has to be stressful to you. Online, in person, or blended all have things to think about and positive and negative points. Let me know in the comments if you have a topic you'd like me to cover or start a conversation to ask other teachers what they are thinking about _______________.
The advice I have for you off the top of my head--
- Get enough sleep
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
- Stay connected to others even when you can't be close to them
- Think out of the box--- the box may be a safe place, but there are all sorts of ideas and paths outside our usual box
- Use your webpage from the district to your advantage as well as an advantage for the families you serve.
- Be aware of your internal voice and how you are talking to yourself...stay as positive as you can. You are a wonderful person and deserve to treat yourself that way.
- Listen to Jerry Brooks tonight live!!! That sentence is the link
Wishing you well,
Teacher Debbie
